Looking Glass Land

I felt like drawing fanart from American McGee's Alice-game which is one of my favourite games. It took me ages to finish this but I really enjoyed making this piece :3 Alice is holding my favourite weapons from the game: croquet mallet with the head of a flamingo and magic playing cards on her other hand. The ball Cheshire Cat is holding is of course Alice's croquet ball. I wanted the background to be from level "Looking Glass Land: Checkmate in Red" because I really like that level and I think it looks really cool. I wanted to make background as authentic as I could so luckily I had some savegame-files left from that level so I could play it and take some screenshots (like this one).

The most difficult thing to draw wasn't the buildings on the background but the Cheshire Cat... gosh, I have never known anything about a cat's skeleton and Cheshire Cat is basicly just skin and bones so he was really hard to draw D:

I also had to play around with Photoshop pretty much for the background, since I thought making chess patterns with Photoshop would be easier than drawing them by hand but I was wrong. I just hate the perspective tool in PS, it's so hard to make it work like I would want it to >_< I also thought "oh I don't have to draw all these buildings: I can just copypaste and mirror them with Photoshop, that would be way faster!" but it turned out to be not so simple, so basicly it would have been faster if I had just drawn them by hand... But no can do, what is done is done. Funny fact: although I mirrored the buildings they are not completely identical
